Documentary Record of the Wilmington Ten Case
Subject: Les Dix de Wilmington
Date: 1977
Focus: The Wilmington Ten case in the United States
Featuring: Introduction by Angela Davis
This documentary addresses the legal case of the Wilmington Ten, a group of African American activists convicted in the 1970s, and situates the events within the broader context of civil rights history in the United States. The film forms part of the Ciné-Archives collection of politically and socially significant documentary works.
The Condition
The digitized archival material exhibited pronounced chromatic degradation, including red color shift typical of aging film stock, as well as image instability and reduced legibility in low-contrast areas.
The Intervention
Norne Legacy carried out a digital remastering process grounded in conservative archival methodology.
Color rebalancing: Correction of chromatic shift and density loss to restore tonal equilibrium while respecting the original photographic structure.
Image stabilization: Reduction of flicker, frame instability and scanning artifacts.
Texture preservation: Maintenance of the original grain and documentary aesthetic without aesthetic reinterpretation.
The restored version improves clarity and structural stability while preserving the authenticity of the original footage, ensuring its continued availability for institutional preservation, academic research and public screening contexts.
