The Intervention
Norne Legacy carried out a comprehensive digital restoration and remastering process based on a conservative archival methodology.
Image stabilization: Correction of gate weave, frame instability and jitter associated with handheld 16mm footage.
Surface defect management: Reduction of scratches, dust and scanning artifacts while preserving original texture.
Chromatic reconstruction: Rebalancing of faded color layers to recover the tonal character of the original film stock.
Audio restoration: Cleaning and stabilization of the soundtrack to improve clarity of speech and environmental sound without altering documentary authenticity.
The restoration enhances legibility and structural stability while maintaining the original aesthetic and documentary integrity of the work, ensuring its continued accessibility for historical research, screening and institutional preservation.
