Digital remastering and preservation of twentieth-century audiovisual heritage
Norne Legacy collaborates with AAMOD (Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio e Democratico) on the digital remastering and technical assessment of historical audiovisual materials preserved within the archive.
AAMOD is one of Italy’s principal institutions dedicated to the preservation of political, social and cultural audiovisual documentation of the twentieth century. The partnership focuses on ensuring long-term digital stability, structural coherence and institutional accessibility of selected film works.
Norne Legacy operates as a specialized technical partner, working exclusively on digitized files intended for archival preservation, scholarly research and curated public presentation. All interventions follow a conservative, non-invasive methodology that prioritizes documentary authenticity and historical integrity.
Current Project: Panni sporchi by Giuseppe Bertolucci
Digital remastering is currently underway on Panni sporchi (1980), directed by Giuseppe Bertolucci.
The intervention aims to restore visual legibility, tonal balance and image stability while preserving the original aesthetic character and historical context of the film. The process includes structural correction of digitized elements, stabilization of image continuity and careful management of surface artifacts.
Technical Methodology
Norne Legacy operates as an external technical unit within a structured archival framework. Our workflow is based on:
• Continuous dialogue with the archive
• Transparent documentation of interventions
• Reversible digital processes aligned with archival standards
• Absolute respect for original source materials
